As they say in the poker world, "If the luck slams
the door in your face, go in through the window." Music and movement is
all that is coming out of this guy here in Music City. Looking forward
to the summertime, ultimate frisbee, iced tea, and cool A/C. The streets
are buzzing with excitement for the CMA event and this town is flooded
with people. Work is good, people are good, music is fun. The strain of
moving on alone in this endeavor is coming into view. The toil of daily
life can be unforgiving. Bills, ... I was going to list other things,
but they all end up as some kind of bill in the end, so... bills.
Recording is moving slower as equipment is giving up on me. But I am
inventing new ways to lay these tracks down so i get them out and move
new ones in. I want to let whoever reads these thoughts to know that I
truly appreciate their care. I enjoy this music and this purpose and I
willingly open my arms out to anyone who wants to be a part of it along
the way. In hopes of bringing it all back together again in the near
future, so long...

It's a new year and with it brings some new music. I
have been writing non-stop lately for the new album and I can't wait to
get it out there. The full band, Without-Excuse, has hit the pause
button to take a look at real life. This like finances, relationships,
jobs, and the future hit hard when your scraping by in Nashville. So
for now, I am back to the roots, playing on my own and living my dream.
I truly appreciate the support I have had through the years, old and
new faces. I am excited for what this new year brings. New songs are
up on myspace.com/thentheartist if you care to check them out. I will
be updating this website daily with new content and music as I go. If
you like what you hear, and would like to hear more, please, drop me a
line. I am alone now doing this music and could sure use the lift.
Hope this was a relaxing holiday season for all of you and I hope you
are looking forward to 2008. And again, thanks for the support, more
music to come.
God Bless,
-Ryan

The new Emery cd came out yesterday and I am pumped!
I hear from Brad that it has a special edition already with a live
acoustic and full band show with 5 or so extra songs. Yes. Good music
is refreshing. Too much going on in the Without-Excuse world to keep up
with TTA works. Written two new songs I hope to record very soon,
might get on the Belmont school radio since my brother plays in the
group. I guess TTA has had a couple shows recently downtown...on the
corner of 4th and Broadway...on the sidewalk. Perfect place to jam out
and meet people. On a Friday or Saturday night, the streets are flooded
with all kinds of different people. It is the perfect oppurtunity to
start singing out what you believe in and give people the oppurtunity to
relate. Conversations strike, people take a free cd home with them, I
make new personal and musical connections. All in all a very fun time.
So come out to a personal concert on the corner of 4th and Broadway
this Friday or Saturday night. I'll be there.
Most likely Sat...

Not a great past week. Got
in a car accident, blacked out and woke up with a fractured neck. Now I
am wearing one of those really attractive neck braces and I will
probably have it on for another 6 weeks. Fun times in the emergency
room, on the couch watching 50,000 movies(the only thing I can do), and
fun times on hydrocodine. Pain killers are cool. I'm back at work now
toughing it out cause I need money. Music will be tough for a little
while now, but I think we will make due just cause we're hardcore like
that. Brad and I have an Acousitc show here next week and there is no
way I can play guitar. But he is going to learn all the guitar parts,
and I will sit on a stool and sing with my only hardcore neckbrace on.
That's just how we roll. I am so glad that I have a guy like Brad that I
can depend on to go the distance for me. To learn all those parts is
going to be alot, but he believes in the music and in the message so we
can move forward. Peace out everybody, be strong, and watch out for
blinking light intersections. Later.

Last night at the Anchor
downtown on 3rd Ave S. the Violet Burning put on an amazing show. Not
your usual rock or punk sound, but really unique and powerful. It was
cool that I got to open up for them with a few acoustic songs with Brad
and my brother Casey backing up. The Violet Burning stopped right
before their last song and the lead singer started a devo right in the
middle of the concert. For 15 minutes he spoke, just pouring his heart
out on every subject he felt needed to be touched that night. It was
refreshing. Then they played their last song and just tore the place
up. Good night last night. Hope you all have enjoyed the music that's
been out there so far. I am getting ready to explore the small studios
around Nashville to have some simple solo recordings produced within the
next month, so hopefully things will be moving along soon. Give me a
shout sometime, Lataz
